
MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- 1959, GAMA Construction Limited was established.
- 1959, Construction of the İzmir Çiğli Airport was undertaken.
- 1963, GAMA became the representative of Babcock and Wilcox in Turkey.
- 1968, GAMA, the first Turkish company that has World Bank’s “Certificate of Qualification for Constructing Industrial Plants”, undertook the general assembly of the Mersin Thermal Power Plant.
- 1970, GAMA Industrial Plant Manufacturing and Construction, Inc. was established.
- 1972 GAMA constructed the first high-pressure pipeline in Turkey (400 atu test pressure 2x63 km Murgul - Hopa Concentrated Copper Pipeline)
- 1974, GAMA’s first construction work abroad, the construction of a 320-ton/hour Steam Plant in Iran, was completed.
- 1976, Construction of the Soma Thermal Power Plant was started. 1977, a coal transport system with 8.5 km long single piece conveyor line very unique in the World by its outstanding specifications was built for Soma Thermal Power Plant.
- 1977, The İstanbul Bosphorus Crossing Water Pipeline Project, the first undersea water pipeline in Turkey, was completed.
- 1980, Middle East operations began (including the Ain Ghazal Sewage Treatment Plant in Jordan, the Yamama and Sakufa Cement Plants in Saudi Arabia, and the Salahuddin Refinery in Iraq).
- 1981, GAMA Industrial, Agricultural Trade and Marketing was established.
- 1984, GAMA constructed the first ash dam in Turkey. (Soma-B Termal Power Plant, Ayıtlı Ash Dam and Hydraulic Transport System)
- 1988, Construction of the first Flue Gas Desulphurization Plant (Çayırhan Thermal Power Plant TPP Flue Gas Desulphurization Plant)
- 1990, GAMA Power Systems Engineering and Contracting, Inc. was established.
- 1993, Construction of the Gazprom Headquarters (at the time, the tallest building in Russia) and the extension of GAMA’s operations in Russia.
- 1993, GAMA was awarded a “Certificate of Honor” by the Russian Government for completing the renovation of the Russian Parliament Building on time and with the highest standards.
- 1995, The first steps of being an investor was taken with the BOT projets; the Birecik Dam (The Birecik Project is the first major project in Turkey which has been implemented on “finance-built-operate-transfer” bases), the Marmara Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant and the İzmit Domestic and Industrial Water Supply Projects.
- 1996, Construction of the Ankara Metro, the first integrated heavy rail transit system in Turkey. This project also represented the first time top-down construction method was used in Turkey.
- 2001, A new geography for GAMA’s vision abroad: GAMA Construction Ireland was established in Ireland. Construction of housing, highway and power plant projects and boiler erection works are being carried on successfully.
- 2002, GAMA Energy, Inc. was established.
- 2002, GAMA Trading and Tourism, Inc. was established.
- 2003, GAMA International B.V. was established.
- 2003, GAMA HOLDING, Inc. was established. The GAMA Group reorganized its 5 companies, 19 subsidiaries, 6 investments and 10 joint ventures that operates in construction, energy and trade sectors, and combine them under the GAMA HOLDING, Inc. umbrella.
- 2004, GAMA ranked the 69th largest company among the international contractors by Engineering News Record, the most prestigious magazine in international contracting.
- 2005, GAMA moved up to the 64th place in the list of Engineering News Record. Further, GAMA ranked 22nd in power plant construction and 9th in fossil fuel construction in the world.
- 2006, GAMA ranked the number one construction company in Turkey for industrial project revenues by the Engineering News Record Magazine report. It also has the 19th place among international construction firms in the area of power plant construction. Additionally, GAMA has the honor to be the first Turkish company and ranked as the 181st. among the top 200 international design firms.
- 2006, GAMA involved in the mobile communication sector. Vegatel İletişim Hizmetleri A.Ş. a subsidiary of GAMA Trade, was established.
- 2006, Garet Enerji Üretim ve Ticaret A.Ş was established for our new wind power projects while Gates Elektrik Enerjisi Toptan Satış A.Ş. was established for the wholesaling of energy.
- 2006, Tynagh Enerji Limited started power generation in Ireland on the 29th of March.
- 2006, 40% of GAMA’s shares in Tynagh Energy Limited were sold to EFS Tynagh Holding Company, a subsidiary of General Electric Energy Financial Services, which finances the energy activities of General Electric.
- 2007, GE Energy Financial Services, a unit of GE (NYSE: GE), acquired 50 percent of GAMA Enerji shares, a subsidiary of GAMA Holding A.Ş. to invest in energy and water projects in Turkey and the surrounding region, helping to meet rising demand for electricity and water, and grow in emerging markets.
- 2007 ,"Engineering News-Record" weekly magazine issued the "2007 Global Construction Sourcebook" and announced the world's biggest international contractors by sectors. GAMA has been ranked as the world's 13th biggest International Contractor in industrial process construction, 6th biggest in Chemical Plants, 10th biggest in fossil fuel plants and 18th biggest in highway construction.
- 2008 ,"Engineering News-Record" issued the "2008 Global Construction Sourcebook" and announced the world's biggest 225 international contractors. GAMA has been ranked 60th among them. GAMA has the 13thplace in industrial process construction, 5th. place in Chemical Plants , 4th. place in fossil fuel plants, and 13th. place in power plant construction.
- 2009, According to the list published in the "ENR – Global Sourcebook-2009," GAMA was in 5th in the list of "Largest International Contractors in the Global Iron-Steel Sector" and 11th in the list of "Largest International Contractors in the Global Fossil Fuel Powered Power Plants Sector."
- 2009, GAMA celebrated its 50th year.
- 2010, Within the framework of the contract signed with Ministry of Defense-Undersecretariat for Defense Industries, GAMA Trade and Tourism, Inc., delivered Turkey’s first Mobile Surgical Hospital and Mobile First Aid Station to the Turkish Armed Forces with a formal ceremony.
